Andrew Rechnitz

Assistant Vice Provost

Dr. Rechnitz serves as Assistant Vice Provost for Creative Technologies & Media Engagement at Texas State University, where he leads initiatives that integrate emerging technologies, immersive media, and applied learning into the academic experience. He oversees a network of interdisciplinary spaces and programs supporting faculty innovation, student success, workforce-aligned micro-credentials, and community-engaged learning. His work focuses on building sustainable infrastructure for teaching, research, and creative practice through cross-campus collaboration, external partnerships, and strategic program development. 

Before joining TXST, Rechnitz held leadership, faculty, and digital scholarship roles at Southwestern University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Colorado State University. As a CLIR and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Scholarship at Southwestern University, he led the development of emerging technology labs, digital fabrication spaces, and virtual reality learning environments while consulting with faculty on digital pedagogy and research. At UT Austin, he served in multiple instructional and administrative roles across the Department of Rhetoric and Writing and the DiNitto Career Center, with a focus on digital writing, workforce communication, and instructional design. His earlier career includes teaching in higher education and adult learning environments, technical writing, and ESL instruction in both domestic and international settings.

Associate Vice Provost

Dr. Jeff Housman is Associate Vice Provost for Curriculum and Academic Programs at Texas State University, where he provides strategic leadership and support for curriculum development, academic program review, and the implementation of curricular innovations across campus. In this role, he works closely with faculty and academic leaders to ensure rigor, relevance, and alignment in curricular design and academic policies that support student success. Housman also holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Health and Human Performance.

Assistant Vice Provost

Dr. Lon Olson serves as Assistant Vice Provost for Program Accreditation and Assessment at Texas State University. In this role, he leads university-wide assessment initiatives, supports academic program review and external accreditation processes, and collaborates with departments to advance continuous improvement efforts. Olson also teaches in the Department of Philosophy and brings extensive experience in assessment leadership to his work with faculty and academic units. He previously served as Director of Assessment at Texas State and earlier was on faculty at the U.S. Naval Academy.
