Vice Provost for Academic Innovation

Dr. Jorge F. Figueroa Flores serves as Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Professor of Organization, Workforce, and Leadership Studies at Texas State University (TXST). He provides strategic leadership to advance academic excellence, student success, and innovation while strengthening the university’s academic enterprise in support of TXST’s R1 aspirations.

In this role, Dr. Figueroa Flores oversees academic program accreditation, assessment, general education, catalog management, and all curricular processes; leads creative technologies and media engagement initiatives; and coordinates the planning and execution of university commencement ceremonies. His portfolio advances high-impact, data-informed academic practices that enhance curricular quality, scalability, and student outcomes.

He leads new program development and academic program revitalization across credit and noncredit modalities, aligning academic offerings with workforce demand, market intelligence, and institutional priorities. He champions the integration of emerging, immersive, and creative technologies and provides institutional leadership for micro-credential and lifelong learning pathways that expand access, support timely degree completion, and strengthen workforce relevance.

Through collaborative partnerships, evidence-based innovation, and forward-looking academic strategies, Dr. Figueroa Flores empowers faculty, staff, and students to reimagine education, accelerate student success, and position Texas State University as a nationally recognized leader in academic innovation, creativity, and discovery.
